GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – Local emergency organizations get an extra boost as we continue through the holiday season.
The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program has awarded Mesa County $72,488 in federal dollars to help emergency food and shelter programs.
The United Way of Mesa County has been appointed as administrator of the funds, and organizers have set up an application system.
If you know of a program that should apply, make sure it is a nonprofit, has an accounting system, practices nondiscrimination, has demonstrated its ability to distribute food/shelter in an emergency, and has a volunteer board of directors.
To get an application, call Julie Hinkson or Abby Landmeier with the United Way at 970-243-5362. The deadline for submission is Dec. 7, 2012.
