GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The One Book, One Mesa County Committee has chosen The Dog Stars as their boko of the year, and Monday night they will host an interactive event to go alongside the fictional novel.

The Dog Stars takes place in a post-apocalyptic Colorado after most of the society is wiped out from a flu pandemic.

In the story, Grand Junction and the Western Slope play a prominent role in the plot, one reason the book was selected.

"It's like a county-wide book club," said Barbara Roberts, One Book Committee member. "We want everybody to read the book and get interested and excited, so it's just a month-long immersion in a book."

Monday night at 6:00 PM a local pilot will talk about the challenges of keeping a plane operational in a post-apocalyptic society and must more as Bob Fisher brings The Dog Stars to life.

The event will take place in the Central Library Program Area. For more information you can visit the website listed below, or contact the library at (970) 243-4442.
