Millions of people across the country will tune-in Thursday to watch the 86th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Preparations are underway as floats are moved into place and massive balloons are filled with helium.

This year, organizers are hoping to lift more than these familiar characters.

They want to help raise the spirits of so many affected by Hurricane Sandy.

"The parade has always been about family, coming together and about Thanksgiving when everyone comes together to celebrate," says parade executive producer Amy Kule. "This year I believe it will be even more important and I believe will represent as a beacon of hope for the entire Tri-state area."
