JOHNSTOWN, Colo. (AP) -- Johnstown police have arrested a man on suspicion of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl who became the subject of a missing child alert after she sent messages asking friends to call police.

The girl was found Thursday. She had last been seen Tuesday night. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued a missing child alert Wednesday after she sent text messages and Facebook messages saying she was in trouble and scared.

Johnstown police have arrested 38-year-old David Calderon in connection with the girl's disappearance and say he could face charges including unlawful sexual contact.

The Weld County District Attorney's Office says Calderon hasn't been formally charged yet. He is expected to make a court appearance Friday.

The Associated Press is withholding the girl's name due to the nature of the accusations against Calderon.
