FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) -- A man is in police custody, accused of pointing a gun at his step-son.

On May 19, Fruita Police officers investigated a report of felony menacing in the 500 block of Hazel Circle around 7:45 p.m.

According to the Fruita Police Department arrest affidavit, 18-year-old Logan Davis told officers that he was asleep in his bedroom when his mother woke him up and said, "Let's go." The two drove to a friend's house, but no one was home. They then decided to turn around and return to Hazel Circle.

When they pulled in with Davis in the driver's seat, his step-father, Michael Carrano, was waiting for them in the garage.

Davis says Carrano pointed a black .38 special revolver at his face and said, "I don't think so."

Logan told officers he felt "threatened and scared a little, but not too much," the affidavit says.

The police talked with Carrano, who denied that anything happened with a gun. Carrano said he had the revolver in his pocket earlier that day because he worried about his step-son's drug dealing friends. He told officers that he never pulled it out or pointed it at anyone.

The officers noted in the affidavit that Carrano had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech, so they asked if he had been drinking that day. Carrano said he had a few drinks earlier.

A Fruit Police sergeant questioned Carrano's wife, Kandace, about the circumstances, and she said she did not see a gun or any incident. However, she told the sergeant that she believes her son was telling the truth.

Michael Carrano was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Jail for menacing with a deadly weapon and prohibited use of a weapon.
