COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- A 29-year-old man accused of seriously injuring a woman and her 9-month-old child in Colorado Springs has been arrested.
The Gazette reports officers were called to an intersection in the northeastern part of the city just before 10 p.m. Saturday and found the woman and infant with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. With the mother and child was a 9-year-old girl who was identified as the woman's younger sister.
Police say Mark Burch forced the woman and the infant out of his truck during an argument, and the 9-year-old ran for help. Burch, who was arrested on investigation of attempted murder and child abuse, is accused of choking the woman until she was unconscious.
She awoke on the ground with the bleeding infant beside her. The infant was hospitalized with a fractured skull.
