BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) -- A Summit County man is facing charges alleging he struck his significant other in the back of her head with a hatchet.
Prosecutors said Wednesday that 43-year-old Michael Newcomb is charged with attempted second-degree murder, second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of menacing, and third-degree assault.
They say the woman was taken to a hospital Jan. 31 with a fracture on to the back of her skull from the hatchet and a blow to the front of her head from a metal pipe that the couple was believed to have been using as a doorstop.
