COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- A 38-year-old man who pleaded guilty in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 14-year-old Colorado Springs boy has been sentenced to 36 years in prison.
The Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/166uIti) David Allan Henley was sentenced Friday for the May 2012 death of Ricardo "Ricky" Gonzalez Figueroa, who was hit by a pickup truck when he tripped and fell while running across a road.
Henley first tried to elude police but ultimately turned himself in and pleaded guilty in November.
The sentencing came two days after Ricky's family returned to the crash site with personal mementos and bouquets of balloons, commemorating what would have been the boy's 15th birthday.
Henley's criminal history includes dozens of arrests and six felony convictions.
