STERLING, Colo. (AP) -- A man has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor child abuse after a 5-year-old boy was killed in an ATV accident in Logan County.
The Sterling Journal-Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/17RzH26) Christopher Harms struck a plea deal in which prosecutors agreed to drop a more serious charge of negligent child abuse causing death. Harms is the father of the 6-year-old boy who accidentally drove the ATV into a ditch in June during a brief span when the boys were unsupervised. Passenger Diezel Rupp was struck and killed when the ATV rolled over.
Harms' plea deal has not been finalized, and a judge has requested a pre-sentence investigation.
Diezel's father, Jeremy Rupp, is charged with negligent child abuse causing death and is set to go to trial in August.
