FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) A 45-year-old man involved in a crash west of Fort Collins that killed his son has pleaded guilty to felony vehicular homicide.

The Coloradoan reports John Hite entered his plea Friday and faces up to 12 years in prison when he is sentenced April 25. Prosecutors say Hite was drunk when he lost control of his pickup and crashed near Horsetooth Reservoir on Dec. 27.

Hite's 21-year-old son, Joshua Hite-Touchet, was killed.

According to court records, Hite had been freed from jail Dec. 26 after several days behind bars because he failed to appear in court to answer charges stemming from a Sept. 7 DUI arrest.
