GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) -- A 23-year-old man has pleaded guilty to setting fire to a suburban Denver house when nine people were inside.
No one was injured in the fire in Lakewood in July.
The Jefferson County District Attorney's Office says Lucas Jay Piper entered his plea Friday to charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree arson and conspiracy to commit arson.
He faces a prison term of 16 to 36 years at his May 13 sentencing hearing.
Police say Piper and his girlfriend were at the house with acquaintances when he was injured while one of the other people was demonstrating a "fire twirling" performance.
Police say Piper became angry and returned to the house several hours later and set it afire.
