COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- A man who was shot by a Colorado Springs police officer during a foot chase has died.
The Gazette reports police announced the death Saturday night but would not release the man's name pending notification of his family.
Police say the chase began early Tuesday when an officer tried to stop a car that had been reported stolen. The driver took off and the chase ended a short time later when he crashed into the police car.
The man took off on foot and was shot by the officer, who has since been placed on administrative leave until the investigation is complete. The officer's name has not been released.
