Man shot, killed after fights near downtown Denver

DENVER (AP) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot to death during a street fight involving several groups near downtown Denver.

Detective John White says the shooting occurred at 11th Avenue near Lincoln Street at about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, and a number of people were on the streets in the area where bars and restaurants were beginning to empty out. One man was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

The Denver Post says 24-year-old Marvin Joel Rosario-Lopez was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder.

The shooting happened just two days after and a few blocks away from where a 28-year-old man was stabbed to death after leaving a bar. In that attack, Ryan Haldeman suffered multiple wounds and died at a hospital.
