DENVER (AP) -- A man suspected in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 61-year-old pedestrian in Denver has turned himself in.

The Denver Post reports 30-year-old Jim Artis Tillmon surrendered to police Saturday afternoon and is being held on suspicion of vehicular homicide and felony hit-and-run.

Police say he was driving an SUV in rush-hour traffic when the vehicle struck Zewde Ali as she was crossing a street in southeast Denver on Thursday evening.

Tillmon is on parole in two drug cases and has an extensive criminal record dating to 2003.
