BOULDER, COLO. (AP) -- A jury has convicted a man of fatally shooting a University of New Hampshire football player in Boulder.
Kevin McGregor was found guilty Thursday of shooting 20-year-old Todd Walker of Edwards in a botched robbery attempt near the University of Colorado last year. The 23-year-old was then immediately sentenced to life without parole, the mandatory sentence.
The Boulder Daily Camera reports the jury found him guilty of first-degree murder, felony murder, and other crimes.
McGregor had said he got into a confrontation with Walker after he whistled at a woman who was with Walker. McGregor said he fired a warning shot into the air. He said they then struggled over the gun and it was fired accidentally.
