DENVER (AP) -- A police officer who was shot and killed following a crowded jazz concert at Denver's City Park will have a memorial created in an area she patrolled.

The Denver Post says The Piton Foundation is paying for a memorial at the Holly Peace Mural Park in the Park Hill neighborhood that will honor Officer Celena Hollis. The memorial will include a plaque with a photograph of Hollis engraved upon it on one of the peace pillars in the park.

Hollis was killed June 24 while trying to break up a fight. Last month, 21-year-old Rollin Oliver pleaded not guilty in her death, and his attorneys say he drew his weapon as he was being pursued by gang members.

Hollis' memorial is expected to be finished sometime this month.
