GRAND JUNCTION Primary Elections are now less than a month away and candidates for Mesa County Sheriff are putting in the hours with Grand Junction residents to prepare for the big day.
Today the Grand Junction Rotary Club hosted a debate between Steve King and John Pennington.
Both candidates had the opportunity to answer questions asked by the club regarding school safety, budget cuts and crisis management.
"I want to come back to Mesa County because we have challenges thinking about the next generation," King said.
The candidates both addressed the topic of federal government playing a larger role in Mesa County matters.
This included things like the renaming of the Colorado National Monument and drug trade issues.
