MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) - According to Ruth Ehlers, Chair of Mesa County Republicans, there were 1,000 more people attending Tuesday night's caucus than in the last presidential caucus four years ago.

The group says 2,802 people voted in Mesa County.

Statewide, attendance was down. According to the Associated Press, GOP leaders in Colorado blame icy, snowy roads for a disappointing turnout. Caucus attendance statewide was about 65,000, down from 70,000 four years ago.

Rick Santorum logged a narrow win over Mitt Romney in his three-state sweep of GOP presidential contests.
