Missing service people honored

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) American service members risk their lives to keep the country safe, but some never make it back and leave no trace of their whereabouts.

National POW/MIA recognition day honors missing military members.

The Western Slope is home to at least 25 surviving prisoners of war and six former ones were celebrated today.

A table with significant meaning behind it was set up at the ceremony. A white table cloth symbolized the purity of intentions when going abroad, a single red rose is for families who are keeping the faith for their loved ones' return and the empty chair represents those still missing.
