PARACHUTE, Colo. (KKCO) --- More problems are revealed in Parachute Creek; the latest water samples from the creek show more benzene.

One part-per-billion of benzene has been discovered further downstream than any previous samples detected, according to a release from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Williams energy crews have completed construction of a 200-foot treatment trench surrounding the area where benzene was previously detected.

They say the trench will help aerate groundwater and prevent benzene from reaching the creek.
