One lane re-opened after multi-fatality crash on I-70

Eastern Utah New information from the scene of a multi-fatality crash along Interstate 70 in Utah this morning. Utah State Patrol tells our crew on scene that when emergency workers arrived, there were eight people inside a mini-van that had had rolled.

Four were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on scene, Another another three were taken by ambulance to a Grand Junction hospital and another was transported via helicopter to a Grand Junction hospital.

As accident clean up and the investigation into what happened continue as well with not obvious clues about why the van crashed. There is construction in the area, but crews do not believe that was a factor.

One lane of Eastbound Interstate 70 remains closed, but traffic is getting through as they've opened one lane.

ICE responded to the scene to investigate if it's some sort of human trafficking incident.

A fatal accident on Interstate 70 closed the eastbound lanes heading into Colorado early Friday morning.

According to KSL in Salt Lake City, four people are confirmed dead, another four were transported to a hospital in Grand Junction and one person fled the scene.

The Colorado State Patrol, Utah Highway Patrol, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are looking for the suspect who is at large.

Officials say they are investigating the accident as a possible human smuggling incident.
