FRUITA, Colo. A dog and her family have their neighbors to thank for the dog's life.
Bonnie, a great pyranees who protects her sheep farm in Fruita from coyotes, fell into her neighbor's icy pond Friday morning.
The neighbor noticed her out in the water struggling to stay afloat, so he used a row boat to save the dog from the freezing water.
He said he was going to wait for the fire department to arrive to rescue her, but he was nervous she might die if he didn't step in sooner.
The dog is safe and spent Friday warming back up.
