Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – The new Mesa County property values are out. Property owners should be receiving a two-part postcard in the mail with their assessment, but this year, the card is different from years past when the county sent out an envelope with forms enclosed.
Officials in the assessment office say it's important to look at the value on the card, because it will have an effect on amount of taxes you will pay in 2014 and 2015
"They also need to look at the characteristics that we have listed on there on the card. The number of baths, square footage, that type of information-- they need to look at that, and if something is not correct on that, they need to let us know," says Barb Brewer, who is with the Mesa County Assessor's office.
If you disagree with information on the assessment, the process does not end there.
During the month of May to June 3, you can show up at the Mesa County Assessor's office in the Old County Courthouse, and an assessor will be able talk to you. However officials say that if the information is correct on you card, you don't need to do anything else.
