The BLM says this fire is lighting-caused.

UPDATE: Authorities with the BLM say the Pine Ridge fire has grown to between 500 to 700 acres in a matter of hours.

Seven structures are in danger. The Mustang Ranch near De Beque has been evacuated. According to the BLM, the structures that are in danger include RV's and teepee.

Fire crews plan to fight the blaze from the ground overnight Wednesday, then resume blasting it from the air Thursday morning.

The BLM and U.S. Forest Service are fighting the blaze with engines and helicopters.

No evacuations have been ordered for De Beque at this time.

An air tanker is being brought in from the front range to help battle the blaze.

UPDATE: Mesa County fire officials say the Pine Ridge fire has grown from 20 acres to more than 100 acres in a matter of hours. It's behavior is called "extreme."

Mustang Ranch near De Beque has been evacuated. Residents there live in tee pees, and are "off the grid." They have been told to leave for their safety.

Mesa County, Colo. (KKCO) - A new wildfire has flared up north of Palisade on BLM land.

According to BLM spokesperson David Boyd, the fire is estimated to have burned 15 acres so far.

It is burning in a rugged area around Canyon Creek, near a wilderness area. Crews are responding with a helicopter and at least two fire engines. No structures are threatened.

    dang had a good scare yesterday looked like the fire was coming right at us from our back door. this morning i looked out and now i dont even see smoke?? i wander whats up with that??

    We live just north of Piceance Creek and woke up to the smell of smoke this morning. Keeping our eyes on this one as the wind is coming our direction from the fire. Several Nat Gas wells between us and the fire. Good thing we have great men and women trained for just these events! God Bless

    I first noticed the fire around 1:30pmI called my mom Jeanne and then I called my boss and reported it to him that I seen a fire to my right while travelinghrough De Beque canyon while on my way to Craig. It has trippled in size in the past 8 hrs.

        When you work for Big oil, emergencies are always reported to your supervisor first before you call 911. ;)
