GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Sounds of the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra filled the Grand Junction High School auditorium tonight to kick off their 36th season.
The opening night concert drew in dozens around the valley to enjoy the tunes with sets including music from Ludwig and Wolfgang.
The guest artist, Nigel Armstrong, came all the way from California to perform with the symphony this evening, but he is the only non-local performer of this community based-orchestra.
“There's a great pride in this orchestra to just be a local symphony, we don't import musicians from Denver or Salt Lake City. This community just loves the fact that we have a community orchestra here," said Kelly Anderson, the Executive Director of the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra.
"It's very important to have a symphony orchestra in our wonderful community. It adds so much to the cultural aspect of the community," said Adele Suydam, the President of the Grand Junction Symphony Foundation.
If you're still looking to purchase subscription tickets, you can still save 25%.
Just call the symphony office located on Main Street at 243-6787.
