Orphanage in Africa receives local support from community

GRAND JUNCTION,Colo Locals looking to make an international difference came out to Wingate Elementary School on Saturday morning for a 5/10k Run.

Hundreds of people came out to the event and got some exercise in for a good cause.

The run benefited children with hope, an organization that supports 20 children living in a Kenyan orphanage in Africa.

This year was the 6th annual race started at 7:30 am and was sponsored by several local organizations including the Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Group.

The group had more than 40 employees participate in the event, and have been a sponsor of the event for the last 2 years.

"We just want to get out in the community and let everybody see that we love to help others," said Katie Skalla from Rocky Mountain Orthopaedic Group
