"Musique" is the food of love this Valentine's Day, especially since the gift prices are on the rise.

The National Retail Federation reported that sweethearts will spend an average of $126.03 this year on their loved ones. Overall, that’s almost $18 billion for Valentine’s Day.

If you haven't reserved your flowers yet and want to cut costs, you need to think outside the chocolate box.

For $45, all-women barbershop quartet "Musique" will give your special someone a rose and two songs at their work or house.

Member Judy Davis said they get a wide variety of reactions

"Sometimes they're humiliated; sometimes they have a great time. They think it's the best thing," she said.

One valentine to an elderly couple was especially romantic.

"We sang 'Could I Have this Dance,' and the man picked his wife up in his arms, and she had her feet on his feet, and they danced, and it was all we could do to keep singing," said Davis.

The singing valentine delivers a different kind of sentiment.

"It’s a personal touch, and it really does say, ‘You're special to me. I really care about you. I can bring you flowers any day of the year but there are only a couple days of the year where I can have someone come in and really tell you how I feel about you,’" said Davis.

Another way to say you're special is spending time together, especially during a trip. Websites like Cheapo Air and Expedia have last minute deals on flights and hotels.

But it doesn't have to be a plane ride away. Nearby wineries make for fun day trips.

"We have lots of couples that come from Denver and spend the weekend here and do tours of all the wineries," said Lynelle Hilkey with St. Kathryn Cellars in Palisade.

Through February, the winery are offering a Valentine's special. If you buy three bottles of wine, you get a half pound of fudge for free.

But for a personal gift, Hilkey -- and many other women -- still like the traditional.

"Flowers, but wine is always great," said Hilkey.
