Top Colo. student council adviser is PHS man

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – A very humble man is behind some very big events at Palisade High School, and he's just been named Colorado’s high school student council adviser of the year.

David Carlo says the award isn't about his work, but about the giving nature of the Palisade High School community that he has been part of the last 12 years. "What I do enjoy about is its reflective glory. It's nice for the school and the community and the kids to feel that recognition. That’s really what it’s about," says Carlo.

Carlo is in the running to be one of eight regional finalists which will be named later this month. The national winner will be announced in June.

Carlo and his students are behind several big projects at Palisade, including a Santa workshop, a meet and greet between elementary school students and the high school basketball team, and this month, a hall of hearts for Valentine's Day. Each student at Palisade has a Valentine heart posted on the wall.
