GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. This weekend a new tradition is starting in Palisade, and the Palisade Chamber of Commerce has been working hard to prepare for the event. The first annual Colorado National Bank Brews and Cruise Festival starts tonight.
The event is expected to see over 500 people. Cyclists are invited to start Saturday morning with a 110 km bike ride through the town to celebrate Palisades 110th birthday. There will also be a street dance tonight, live music and over 40 vendors, 28 of which are breweries.
"We love riding around here in Palisade,” Chamber Director Juliann Adams said. “We have great scenery with the fruit and wine byway and so we're hoping to combine that aspect of the festival to bring people out here... And start bringing their bikes out here"
The Palisade Brewing Company will be highlighted at the free street dance tonight and 3rd Street will be shut down.
Tomorrow the festivities will start with the bike ride at 8 a.m. and the festival will officially open at 11 a.m. Drinking tickets cost $25 and come with a free mug.
“Palisade's a great place to have a festival,” Adams said. “It's a small town, we love having festivals and we love having the visitors. Tomorrow is supposed to be a gorgeous day so come on out."
