GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Officials say a baby boy was brain damaged because he disrupted his dad while he was playing a video game. Parenting experts say this could have been prevented.

20 year-old Edwardo Christy is facing felony charges. According to an arrest affidavit, Christy told investigators he accidentally hurt his son. He told them he got frustrated with the infant because he wouldn't stop crying and he was trying to play a video game.

Christy told authorities he picked up the child and was running to give him to his girlfriend when he hit the babies head on the wall, knocking the child out.

Parenting experts say all parents lose their cool sometimes, but have to remember to not lose control.

“The single most important thing you can do is breathe. Take that breath, think about is it that bad and usually not that bad,” says Carrie Over, deputy director aerial clinical services.

Parenting experts say there are a number of free resources available here in Mesa County such as parenting classes.

Eveybody is saying the baby is fine and doing well. Who really is to say what the long term effects will be. The news says he could have mild to severe brain damage which could result as little as being blind or maybe even have a kind of disability. I have no remorse for this "Man". He's lied a few times already to authorities so how do we even know this is true??

How sad this is.How tragic it is when a game becomes more important than a tiny life.Stress or not,you are the adult.Babies cry.I'm sure he regrets his actions and I can only imagine how every day is for the family of this baby. I wonder how he(the child) is doing.
