MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) The Mesa County Health Department has organized a Parenting Action Team to connect families with organizations that are fighting against childhood obesity.
Wishes and Dreams is one local child care center that has attended training sessions to learn about how to serve healthier meals and get kids active.
Owner Coreen Edwards said she encourages parents to make healthy recipes at home and have 10 to 15 minutes of activity with their kids to continue enforcing what they are learning at daycare.
Miriam Gutierrez is the mother of three young girls who all go to Wishes and Dreams and said her kids come home telling her what is and is not healthy because of how much they are being taught while at the center.
