Parents to learn about synthetic drug threat

Nearly one in nine high school seniors have gotten high in the past year on synthetic drugs, such as "K2" or "spice.”

They are often sold in legal, retail outlets as herbal incense of plant food and labeled "not for human consumption,” though their sale has been outlawed in Colorado.

Crime Stoppers of Mesa County is teaching parents about this new and dangerous trend in teen drug use.

A representative from community outreach will keep parents who attend the class informed on the newest synthetic drugs, tell them what they look like and offer tips on how to keep your kids away from this new generation of narcotics.

The class is free and open to the public. It will be at 6:30 p.m. in the Mesa County Sheriff's Office training room.
