Paying it forward to service clubs of Mesa County

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Three prominent service organizations share the wealth with locally based, non-profit organizations of the Western Slope.

The Kiwanis Club, the Downtown Rotary Club, and the Lions Club presented award grants to those who work tirelessly to improve the community.

Homeward Bound, School District 51 foundation, and hope of the Grand Valley hope plan to use their monetary awards to fund projects already in the works.

Homeward Bound is looking to build a new shelter.

"This is a big step, every little bit of 55 hundred dollars won’t build that building, it's a big commitment from the community,” says Douglas Karl of Homeward Bound.

Homeward Bound hopes the new shelter will be a safe place to care for single women with children and struggling families.

These grants continue to be a tremendous help to non-profits of the Grand Valley and recipients appreciate the continued support of the community.
