SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) Police say a man is in critical condition after he was struck by a commuter rail train Friday morning in Salt Lake City when he tried to cross the tracks.

Salt Lake City Police Det. Cody Lougy says a man in his 20s passed through the safety arms and crossed a set of tracks near 1700 South and 650 just before 8 a.m.

Lougy says the man maneuvered through a parked freight train on one set of tracks and was struck by a northbound FrontRunner train as he crossed another set of tracks.

He says the man is in serious condition but did not have further details on his injuries.

Lougy says the train involved in the accident has been stopped. Other trains are still running but on a half-hour delay.
