GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – A death at an Alzheimer’s care facility has been ruled a homicide.

On Aug. 29, an elderly Alzheimer’s patient at Aspen Ridge Alzheimer’s Special Care Center accidentally walked into a room belonging to another man, according to Grand Junction Police spokesperson Kate Porras.

When the patient was confronted by the man living inside, the patient pushed the resident, causing him to fall and break his hip.

Porras says that man died from complications relating to those injuries in September.

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office reviewed the death and ruled it as a homicide.

According to Porras, police do not anticipate filing any charges against the Alzheimer’s patient, but they have submitted the case to the district attorney’s office.
