Incident near Powderhorn leaves a young child dead
One child is dead and another is rushed to the hospital after an incident near Powderhorn tonight.
Details are very limited right now, but the Mesa County Sheriff's Office says they responded to a call at around 6:30 PM of two young children needing immediate assistance.
The children were in a car but officials do not believe they were involved in a car accident.
One child died on scene and the other child was transported via care flight to the hospital. The status of that child is unknown .
A death investigation is in process. Officials are not speculating what caused the death yet, saying it is too early to tell.
The coroner should be releasing more information tomorrow. Investigators will be working through the night to get more details.
