GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. A string of storms passed through the Grand Valley causing power outages for many areas around Grand Junction.

Both Grand Valley Power and Xcel Energy have reported outages, to view their reported outages visit the links on the right.

Bill Byers with Grand Valley Power says that they are aware of the outage and are currently working to fix the problem and return power to their customers. Byers confirmed 43 of their customers were without power but anticipated that power would be returned relatively quickly. At this time Grand Valley Power is investigating the cause of the outage.

We've contacted Xcel Energy and although we have not received a response their website was reporting over 3,500 outages around the Grand Junction area. Xcel crews have been dispatched to fix downed power lines around the area and as of 09:00 p.m. they had resolved most of the outages, restoring power to all but around 300 homes.
