Local candidates speak with Mesa County voters

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. The race to the November elections continues, and Thursday evening, Mesa County Residents got their first opportunity to speak with their local candidates thanks to one Grand Valley organization.

Freedom! Colorado hosted a primary election forum that allowed voters to interact with those looking to fill some important roles on the Western Slope.

The forum featured candidates running for Mesa County Sheriff, Mesa County Accessor, Mesa County Commissioner for District Two, and Mesa County Clerk and Recorder.

Organizers assured the public that the night would remain completely unscripted, and candidates were eager to scope out the competition.

“It's going to be very important tonight because it's the first chance to see who all is in the fields, you never know when I could pick up a good idea from another candidate,” says Jim Lange who’s running for Mesa County Sheriff.

The majority of the forum was conducted through a ticketed question and answer session.

Candidates were only given two minutes each to address the audience beforehand.

The goal of the organizers of Freedom! Colorado was to enable voters to make educated decisions about their future leaders come November.
