GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The community is continuing to pull together to help Tuesday's explosion victims.

On Saturday, Primerica held a barbeque fundraiser. Local businesses donated hamburgers and hotdogs, and the food was free. In return, however, Primerica asked attendees to donate whatever they could to help the victims.

Primerica says it was just a way for them to give back.

"We actually heard from Tim Smith with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He called us up and said, 'We need your prayers,' and we said, 'Well, let's do more than that, let's get a fundraiser going.' Probably with in an hour and a half, we had people starting to donate stuff," Primerica spokesperson Kevin Kees said.

If you missed out Saturday, but still want to donate, Primerica will continue to take donations for the next couple of weeks.

Right now, they're asking for gift cards for the victims because they're not sure what their needs are going to be in the coming months.

Xcel Energy says it is continuing to monitor the 7th Street area for natural gas. So far, all of the readings have come back zero.

That includes areas around Tope Elementary School, where students were evacuated Friday morning after authorities found traces of natural gas in the sewer lines.
