Rainy weekend in Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) It was another overcast day in Grand Junction. Officials say that including the weather we received on Monday, we've seen 12 days of rain so far this August.

This weekend's rainfall put us way above the average amount we usually get this month. Since Friday we've seen ninety-six hundredths of an inch of rain. That's more than our monthly average of ninety-five hundredths of an inch.

While the water may have been good for plants, it could also cause some problems.

"We had some minor flooding here in the Grand Valley over the weekend and the grounds are very saturated so it wouldn't take a lot of additional precipitation which would occur in a short period of time that could cause flooding, or flash flooding,” says Jim Pringle, of the National Weather Service.

We have also seen our share of colder weather. On Sunday we saw a record low high temperature of 70 degrees. The old record low maximum temperature was 73 degrees. That was set in 1921.
