Regents seek support for concealed-carry on campus

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- Two Republican members of the University of Colorado Board of Regents are expected to ask their colleagues to support the right to carry concealed guns on the school's campuses.

The Daily Camera reports (http://bit.ly/15leptb) Jim Geddes of Sedalia and Sue Sharkey of Windsor are proposing a resolution saying "gun-free zones" leave law-abiding citizens vulnerable to harm.

The board is expected to vote on the measure in Colorado Springs on Wednesday or Thursday.

The Colorado Supreme Court has struck down CU's gun ban, sparking a backlash from several faculty members. And CU's student government supports a bill that seeks to once again ban guns in higher education buildings.

That bill received initial approval Friday in the state House on a voice vote but still must get a recorded vote before it can go to the Senate.
