DENVER, Colo. (KKCO) - According to Colorado House Republicans, State Representatives Laura Bradford, R-Grand Junction, was suspended from her post as chair of the House Local Government Committee for reasons related to a traffic citation issued on Jan. 25th.
Rep. Libby Szabo, R-Arvada, will serve as the chair of House Local Government, and Rep. David Balmer, R-Centennial, will serve as the committee’s vice chair.
According to Denver Police, Rep. Bradford was seen driving "erratically" around 10:00 Wednesday night near Colfax Avenue and Downing Street.
An officer pulled her over, and gave her a roadside sobriety test. According to police, Rep. Bradford admitted she had been drinking.
Police say the an old law on Colorado's books states they cannot arrest a State Representative coming to or from the state capitol unless they are suspected of committing a felony.
Police say she was given a ticket, her car was locked, and she took a cab to where she was going.
Calls to Bradford's office have gone unreturned.
