GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Construction on I-70B has closed access to the south side of Rimrock Ave. since last Sunday, clogging intersections and cutting the flow of traffic to some businesses down to a trickle.
Drivers have been able to get to businesses like Walmart and Chick-Fil-A via detours, but the week-long closure is hurting business.
The Rimrock Trade Center is just one business next to the constant construction that just can't wait for it to end. Jerry Carosella of Rimrock Trade Center says, "It's very inconvenient obviously. It's annoying, all the dust and dirt and noise, it's been really tough for all the merchants in the shopping center."
The south side of Rimrock Ave. is set to re-open Saturday morning before 9 a.m., though the project is still ongoing. Crews say work this week will focus on paving, construction of sidewalks, intersection islands, grading and more. The project is set for completion in mid-December.
