GRAND JUNCTION,Colo. Saturday morning more than 800 runners were out at Canyon View Park to help raise money for Mesa County Partners.

The Mesa county Partners organization that helps kids in the Mesa County area get involved in different programs held a Color Dash 5k run to raise money for the funding of their programs.

The community raised more than $9,000 at Saturday’s event.

Director of Mesa County Partners, Joe Higgins said all of that money raised will go right back into the community to help get local kids involved in mentoring programs.

"We really appreciate the support that we get from the community, we couldn't provide our services for young people if it wasn't for the local community and this is a great example of it," said Higgins.

The upbeat event featured music, food vendors, and booths from several local sponsors.

Higgins said Mesa County Partners is always looking for mentors and other adult volunteers to help with their programs.
