GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- In an effort to brighten the holidays of a family in need, one local business held a fundraiser on Sunday, volunteering its time to raise money.

Revolution Salon professionals volunteered their time Sunday afternoon to offer free hair cuts to kids and men. All they asked in return was a donation for the family of Matix Smith, a two-year old boy who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.

Owner of the salon, Meg Marakis, says she just hopes to help the family in anyway she can.

"I think it’s important for us, you know, as business owners to give back. We are pretty fortunate for what we have, especially to have a job, and I think giving back around Christmas is pretty important," she said.

Marakis says she and her staff work hard to give back to the community year round. If you would like to donate, she says feel free to stop by the salon on North Avenue.
