Santa listens to holiday wishes in sign language


GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Santa is pay attention to what every child in the Grand Valley wants this Christmas even to those who may not be able to tell him in words.

Hearing impaired children signed with Santa at Mesa Mall Saturday morning.

Santa also entertained the kids with a Christmas-themed book.. complete with sign language.

The Deaf Kids Club has been coordinating the event with the mall for about eight years.

"Every year that they just be together, read a story, and have a Santa that speaks their language," said Mahea Rodriguez, whose daughter is in the Deaf Kids Club.

The Deaf Kids Club coordinates activities for the hearing impaired children in District 51.

The organizaiton brings children and their parents together who have similar experiences.
