DENVER, Colo. (KKCO) - A bill sponsored by Senator Steve King to improve school safety will head to the Senate floor.
The bill was passed unanimously out of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Friday.
It would expand the role of school resource officers, and allow school districts to consult with community partners when it comes to creating safety plans for their schools.
Senator King says the bill will allow SRO's to "Put their unique training and experience to work in protecting students and teachers."
