GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Thursday was the grand opening of the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs' new office.
Located right across the street from St. Mary's hospital, the new office will be the headquarters for over 100 volunteers helping out in schools and homes.
"When I talk to other grandparents in their schools, you know, they feel like they're making a difference," said Foster Grandparent volunteer, Joan Hauschel.
Foster grandparents help younger children one on one in the classroom while senior companions assist their clients with their day to day activities.
These programs look to support the youth and elderly most in need, and both are open to anyone over the age of 55.
