GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Police catch up to a man wanted for allegedly using his vehicle to assault a police officer.

The Grand Junction Police Department say a tip lead them to the 800 block of Elm Avenue Thursday.

That's where they arrested 33-year-old Karl Carothers on charges including attempted second degree assault, vehicular eluding, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Police first encountered him Wednesday after witnesses spotted him driving recklessly and speeding on North Avenue.

When they caught up with him, he jumped into his car and took off. Shortly after that police say he intentionally side-swiped at patrol car.
