DURANGO, Colo. (AP) A man accused of killing his wife in Silverton has been released from jail but ordered to stay away from his two young children.

Thirty-one-year-old Michael McFarland posted bond Monday, after a judge agreed to reduce it to $20,000 because of his deep roots in the town of 500 near Durango.

However, Judge Martha Minot said McFarland must live with his mother in Rifle as criminal proceedings continue.

Jessica McFarland was found dead in her home early Friday morning.

Shortly before that, The Durango Herald reports that Michael McFarland went to his neighbors' house asking for help for his wife. According to an arrest affidavit, he told them that his wife threw a bottle at him so he threw one at her that hit her in the throat.
